Caller ID is an great way to hide your phone number.
Posted by Internet advisor on Sep 1st, 2009A long time ago you were able to call someone without having to debate about whether or not if the person on the other line would pick up.
If you did not answer then you would be left to wonder who just called you. You just had to sit and wait for them to either call back or never know who called at all. This was a wall that would be over come with time and technology.
Soon, the caller id would be born.
Caller Identification is done by one provider talking to another. The details from whoever is calling is then matched with a big phone book which then tells your phone who is calling.

A great deal of people these days do not pick up their phone when they do not know the number.
This is partly due to the fact that person on the other end is staring at the phone caller identification and making a quick decision on whether or not to pick up to your call.
But due to VOIP being able to hide your caller identification it then become a dominate player in the faking of your caller identification.
This card gives you more of a opportunity to get someone to answer the phone by making it look like someone else is calling. So you can be anyone you want to be, even the White House.
This advantage has it’s bad and good points and should not be misused.

Any more I don’t bother to pick up my phone whenever it reads withheld or even if it’s an 800 number…
I got scammed once because I applied for a college loan and some how I started getting calls wanting all my information for that loan. Well, against my better judgment I gave the info out thinking it was the people who I applied with…well needless to say it wasn’t the college at all…but someone who some how got my info from that application.
Anymore, I just avoid any number I don’t recognize.
